  Singing to those journeying to the end of life, we become that lighthouse. So I did discover a story worth looking into. I also discovered a rare form of community service worth doing.   Spory, 61, has been singing since she was a child and has always enjoyed singing in choral groups. For her, joining the Threshold Singers is one way she can use her voice to serve. In (about) , I started (very tentatively) leading monthly rounds singing circles. Gradually that expanded, I began to write rounds, make friends with other rounds writers and lead larger groups. After 25 years, I had enough contacts and confidence to begin to think about this more specific project, the Threshold Choir. The practice began in California and spread to communities around the world. The mission of the Threshold Choir is to bring gentle a capella singing to people who are dying in hospitals and.

Threshold Choirs are an ancient idea, but they are relatively new to North America. Director of Spirit Song, a threshold singing group that works in St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton, Beverly Horton explains the power of singing for the seriously ill or the dying, as well as for their families and caregivers.
